The University of Miami Tissue Bank is one of the largest bone and soft tissue banking facilities in the United States. The Tissue Bank has been a leader in the development of massive osteoarticular bone allografts and intercalary bone transplants in various procedures of reconstructive orthopaedic surgery. Massive bone allografts are used successfully in tumor surgery and also employed in revision arthroplasties. Other applications of bone grafting are performed in spine and sports medicine surgery, tissue for peridontal and maxillofacial surgery, and skin for burn victims. The Tissue Bank offers consultation for surgeons in the selection of bone allografts.
